How long does it take to get an appointment?

Currently, we have good availability for immediate appointments. Depending on what you would like to have addressed, we have a great team that works together collaboratively to meet any patient’s needs. Our Physician Assistant, Taylor Smith, is qualified to care for any medical concerns you may have. He likes to see a wide variety of patients of all ages and can provide treatment for illnesses or injuries. Dr. Baker is in high demand, and can have a bit of wait. However, he is always available to consult with his PA if you choose to get in with Taylor rather than wait for Dr. Baker’s availability. All the providers at The Healing Sanctuary strive to practice with a “team based” approach. The goal is that you will receive the same high quality care from any provider you may see and they are all qualified to meet your requests on how you would like your care to proceed.

What if I need an appointment now and can't get in to see Dr. Baker?

This is a great question, Dr. Baker took a lot of time and consideration when he hired his supportive providers. He got to know them ahead of time from residencies or other circumstances and felt confident he could provide his patients with a provider team that would be able to offer the same level of care and compassion he would offer himself. He feels very comfortable having his patients see any of the highly qualified providers and recommends scheduling with one of them if you need to be seen in a more timely manner than his schedule will allow. He is confident you will have a good experience.

I am looking for a new provider and I am not sure the best way to select one.

I know I want to come to the Healing Sanctuary, but how do I choose who will work best for me? First of all, all of the providers at the Healing Sanctuary work together as a team and meet at least weekly to make sure they offer similar care and all strive to meet the ultimate goal of getting to the root of the problem and resolving that for the patient. They all focus on what the patient wants regarding their care and the approach they prefer to take. So when you call, make sure to discuss with the receptionist what your goals of the appointment are and they will guide you to the provider that best fits your needs. If you want to check out the website there are some details on our providers there as well to help guide you.

What are some of the Alternative Treatments offered at The Healing Sanctuary?

Here at The Healing Sanctuary, we strive to address the root cause of illness in the most natural and non-invasive ways possible. We may address this with nutritional and herbal supplements while also working on optimizing nutrition from food. Sometimes these therapies are not adequate to address illness when used alone. In these circumstances, we consider using IV nutrients. Other IV treatments include the use of IV ozone and UV light to stimulate the immune system and may assist in diminishing infection from pathogenic microorganisms that might be affecting your health. We also offer testing for heavy metal toxicity that can be treated with IV chelation treatments. Eliminating heavy metals from your body may improve your health overall, particularly vascular health and brain function. We also offer bio-identical hormones in the form of pellets. These hormones are identical to those made in your body and are delivered in a way that are evenly distributed to avoid the ups and downs in levels that occur with injections, creams and pills. These are just a few of the therapies that we offer, we look forward to meeting with your to make a plan to best address your health concerns.

I hear that The Healing Sanctuary Only Offers Functional or Alternative Treatments, is that true?

That is definitely not true. We love that we have the ability and training to offer alternative therapies, if desired, as well as traditional medicine options. We cater to what the patient wants, that is what makes us unique.

I have been seeing Dr. Baker for my OB/GYN needs for years, I heard he is starting to see a larger variety of patients and wanted to verify?

As a matter of fact, yes! Dr. Baker and his other providers take care of a variety of patients with a range of problems or concerns. We can see anyone from infants to the elderly, this includes both men and women, and we love when we can care for the entire family. We can take care of annual/wellness visits, sports physicals, acute illnesses and acute or chronic pain/injuries. We want to get to the bottom of the problem and work with the patient to be healthy. The benefit of using us for your family is that we not only offer traditional medical options, we also provide functional medicine options if you are interested in those.

Are the Functional and Integrative therapies covered by Insurance?

Unfortunately, many times these evidence-based therapies are not covered by insurances. We like to promote them and use them to help patients improve their health and resolve their medical conditions so they don’t have to continue on some (or possibly even all) of their medications. We hope we can cure the root problem and therefore you won’t have to keep taking medications to cover up the resultant symptoms. It can be an expense up front, but if it works, it may save you years of pharmaceutical use as well as offering you a non-harmful and very beneficial way to improve your health.

I am interested in improving my nutrition and overall wellness. Is there a program to support me with this?

Yes! Our Naturopathic team runs a program designed to guide you on your journey to optimal health. The program starts with doing an analysis of your body composition so that an individualized meal plan can be made based on your body’s calorie requirements. Fortunately you do not need to count calories on this plan. Instead you are advised on how many servings you should eat in specific food categories such as protein, vegetables, grains, etc. The program is designed to equip you with knowledge and tools to sustain good practices to improve and optimize your health. You meet with one of our doctors every 2-4 weeks usually for 3-6 months to discuss nutrition, stress management and exercise. You can also choose to sign up for an lifestyle coaching App for your computer or phone that allows you to make and track specific health goals and send us messages between visits. This gives you added support between visits and helps you to track your progress towards your goals.
