Fertility, Infertility, and Recurrent Miscarriages
The Healing Sanctuary (THS) with Dr. Baker and his providers assist in the issues of male and female infertility, desired fertility and those who suffer from recurrent miscarriages.
Fertility/Infertility
It can be incredibly heartbreaking when trying to become pregnant is not happening for your family. There are many possible factors to look at when determining fertility. Some of the common issues facing infertile couples today are:
Sperm Count and Quality
For men, the most important factor is to have high quality sperm. This means that not only is the sperm count in the range of 20 million to 200 million per milliliter, but that the sperm is correctly shaped so that it can swim properly and in the right direction. This is called good motility.
A semenanalysis can be done easily from home and we use a local lab for running this test and is apparently very affordable. Part of the assessments obtained is not only the total motile sperm count, but also what is called a Krueger analysis which is a rating on the quality, shape and motility potential of the sperm.
If male infertility is identified, Dr. Baker will guide those men in seeking to find the potential causes and seek the proper treatments. There are many known causes and many unknown causes of male infertility and this is actually becoming a much bigger source for infertility in couples than on the female side. Treatments are possible to reverse men who are even totally sterile using regenerative methods.
PCOS
PCOS is the abbreviation for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. This is a condition in which women suffer from poor ovulation causing many small cysts in the ovaries. Women who suffer from PCOS experience weight gain, excess body hair, infertility and irregular periods. This condition causes the ovaries to overproduce male sex hormones causing hormone imbalances. Recent research points to autoimmune ovarian dysfunction as a possible cause.
If this is the potential source of infertility, then treatments such as medications, ovarian sensitizing supplements and IV therapies have shown great success in helping the ovaries to function normally.
Endometriosis/Adenomyosis
Endometriosis is when the endometrium of the uterus grows on the outside of the uterus instead of the inside of the uterus, causing inflammation and sharp pain. This affects the uterus, ovaries and fallopian tubes. In severe cases, these lesions will attach themselves from the uterus to other parts of the reproductive system. Endometriosis may cause infertility due to the fact that there is too much inflammation in the uterus, making it difficult for a fertilized egg to attach itself to the uterine wall
At THS Dr. Baker offers laproscopic outpatient, minimally invasive surgery to identify and treat those whom may suffer from endometriosis and potential consequences of infertility that is often associated with this finding.
THS also offers adjunctive therapies in their IV center that helps to reduce endometriosis and rid the body of the inflammation and improve overall ovarian and female reproductive organ function.
Natural Treatments
Dr. Baker will look into root causes of female and male infertility and provide treatments that are more natural using stem cells, peptides, natural blood cleaning and immune balancing modalities. Using these unique methods will improve abnormal sperm count, quality and motility, along with improving PCOS conditions in women who suffer from poor ovulation. The above modalities will help remedy these conditions in a more healthy and natural way. Many patients have benefited from combining these therapies along with regular conventional treatments to aid couples desiring help.
Secondary Infertility
Some couples find that they have no problem becoming pregnant at first. Secondary infertility is when a couple will struggle to conceive years later after having been able to conceive easily the first time. We are happy to look at things that may be causing this such as environmental factors or other causes.
RECURRENT MISCARRIAGES
Women who suffer more then 3 miscarriages fall into the category of recurrent miscarriage. Although time can sometimes eventually remedy unknown causes for such, most theories seem to ride on an immune dysregulation as the potential cause for embryonic or fetal losses. Using similar therapies for infertility, Dr. Baker and his providers at THS can offer hope for a successful pregnancy. Many women have been seen and treated with these natural immune balancing therapies and have had successful pregnancy outcomes without the aid of powerful medications or invasive procedures such as IVF.
TESTING
If you and your partner are struggling to conceive, for best outcomes, it would be ideal for both people to come in for testing together. Most often it is assumed that the fertility issue lies within the woman, however, male factor infertility is just as common as female infertility. Statistics show that one-third of infertility cases are male factor, one-third is due to female factor, and one-third of the time it is due to both female and male factors.
SERVICES OFFERED FOR INFERTILITY
Dr. Baker can order semen assessments from a local lab, perform laparoscopies in women, and order ultrasounds at a local facility. IVF and IUI are not done at THS but can be performed by a local specialty clinic if such is determined to be necessary.
PRENATAL CONSULTATIONS
Though Dr. Baker no longer manages the pregnant OB patients, he feels honored to consult for any whom would like to understand some of the natural ways to assist a woman and her unborn child for best possible birth outcomes, helping to potentially reduce risks of preterm delivery, pre-eclampsia, autism, diabetes, stretch marks, birth canal trauma and many other risks for mom or baby.
