Michelle Smith, FNP-BC, DipACLM

Family Nurse Practitioner

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, she moved to the Idaho Falls area in 1999. Michelle is the mother of 7 and grandmother of 17. Her favorite hobbies include riding her motorcycle, camping, hiking, gardening, and snowshoeing in the winter. For almost 20 years, she practiced as a midwife.

In 1993, she passed the national certification exam from the North American Registry of Midwives to become a Certified Professional Midwife. From 2006 to 2010, she worked on legislation as a volunteer lobbyist for the Idaho Midwifery Council to license midwives in the state of Idaho. Midwives became eligible for licensure in 2009 and Medicaid reimbursement in 2010. At the beginning of 2008, she opened the first free-standing birth center in Southeast Idaho.

She received her Bachelor’s Degree as a Registered Nurse from Idaho State University in 2019 and earned her Master’s Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Northwest Nazarene University in 2022. She worked at Bingham Memorial hospital as an RN on the medical/surgical floor, the Intensive Care Unit, and in the Pain & Anesthesia Recovery Center.

In 2020, she added to her resume by completing course requirements in Holistic Nurse Coaching. She offers health and wellness coaching to her patients and understands that coaching is an integral part of clinical practice.
